Little things can make a big difference. Easy-to-implement, evidence-informed mental health practices for elementary classrooms.

Designed to support the development of basic mental health literacy and social-emotional learning skills for grades 1-8.  Each lesson includes:

o   A minds on, action, and consolidation task

o   Cross curricular connections to language and the arts

o   Optional extension activities

o   Mentor Texts suggestions

A series of six lessons to support the development of stress management and healthy coping skills. Each lesson has three parts: a minds-on activity, a pre-recorded virtual field trip session that introduces breathing strategies, and a consolidation activity.

This tip sheet provides information for students on how take care of themselves.

Practical resources created for the start of the school year, but the information and activities are still relevant for now. The activities focus on relationships, connection and community. They are designed to help students ease into school routines.

Describes the process of developing and practicing skills that help us to thrive throughout life. SEL targets six domains where knowledge and skills can be developed.


 

Equity and Mental Health Resources

 

Include various youth-friendly graphics to build students’ awareness and understanding of:

o   some of the different equity issues related to the pandemic

o   coping tips for students impacted by systems of oppression and discrimination

o   how to be an ally

This poster has been developed to identify actions that students can take to stand up against racism and help to better their peers and support a positive school climate.

These social media shareables focus on self-love strategies to help support the mental health of Black Youth.

This tip sheet provides information on how being in a supportive space is crucial for developing a sense of comfort, improved mental health and identifies tips to maintain a space for Black youth to heal and flourish.

A series of six lessons to support the development of stress management and healthy coping skills. Each lesson has three parts: a minds-on activity, a pre-recorded virtual field trip session that introduces breathing strategies, and a consolidation activity.

These conversation starters can be used to support a welcoming and caring learning environment that supports learning, wellness, and equitable outcomes for all students.


A series of four lessons designed for use with secondary students, focusing on building their understanding of mental health and mental illness, signs of mental health problems, and how/where to access help when needed.

Each lesson includes:

·       Minds On: an activity for student reflection

·       Action Task: engagement with the core content of the lesson

·       Consolidation: activities for students to continue the learning

·       Transition: a brief practice/activity to end in a positive way and help students transition to the rest of their day

·       Safety: a reminder about available resources and encouragement of help-seeking
